The Overthinkers CBT Workbook: Rewire Your Perfectionism, Unlock Fast Decisions by kevin childs
Perfectionism and overthinking are usually described as two separate problems. In practice, for most people who struggle with both, they’re one mechanism with two visible symptoms. Perfectionism sets an impossibly high, often vaguely defined bar for what counts as an acceptable outcome. Overthinking is what your mind does while it tries — and fails — to guarantee that bar gets cleared before you commit to anything. You don’t overthink because you’re indecisive by nature. You overthink because some part of you believes that enough analysis can eliminate the risk of being wrong, and every time you stop analysing before you feel certain, it feels like stopping too early.
