The Shakespeare Thief by Lionel Ward

The Shakespeare Thief: An Elliott Todd Mystery by Lionel Ward

In death, Harry Nielsen looked nothing like he did in life. His handsome, confident countenance had been replaced by a startled and uncomprehending look; a comic-tragic face more to be pitied than admired. That image has stayed with me and intruded on my thoughts countless times over the years and its vividness has not faded with time.
An acquaintance rather than a friend, his death at that time did not affect me deeply on a personal level but it was never-the- less shocking and disquieting, taking place as it did on my own bookshop premises.
Nielsen’s reputation had been gained as a Shakespeare ‘expert’. It was commonly said that he was more knowledgeable than anyone else on the subject and it was for this reason that I had sought him out to talk in my bookshop, Ex Libris, when I discovered that he had written an eagerly awaited new volume, timed to appear on Shakespeare’s birthday, the 23rd April, or Saint George’s Day as some will have it.

Catch You by Maeve Harlow

Catch You: A Military MMFM Kinky Erotica: A Spicy Short Story of Bondage, Dominance, and Submission by Maeve Harlow

Marooned in the wilderness during a global nuclear attack, a British woman finds herself stranded in the woods with three hunky American soldiers when the rescue mission is cut short. These gruff thugs are far from her type, but she finds herself entangled with one of them, then two…then all three!

Excerpt
Every morning now I take a walk in the woods, before the others wake and start complaining. It’s been eleven days since we’ve heard anything other than birds and bugs and the small waves lapping on the shore of the lake.

Eleven days ago, we were all just passengers on a flight from LA to New York. Half the people were asleep when I first noticed something was amiss. The flight attendant was crying, running down the aisle. Just as I was opening my phone to check whether there had been some update on the war, the captain came on and told us we had to make an emergency landing. The war had escalated, and bombs were being lobbed across the Pacific in both directions. We had to get out of the air immediately.

The pilots were forced to land on a lake in North Dakota. The landing was rough, but they managed to skim across the lake and come to a jarring halt on a sandy bank. We all clapped.
Since then, we’ve been trying to ration our food, hoping someone will come for us, but I’m unconvinced. If bombs were dropped on American cities, who would care about a group so small, and one who didn’t need to be evacuated to avoid radiation poisoning? We’re too far away from any major cities to be at risk of nuclear fallout.

Played to Death by BV Lawson

Played to Death: A Scott Drayco Mystery (Scott Drayco Mystery Series Book 1) by BV Lawson

Former piano prodigy-turned FBI agent Scott Drayco is still suffering nightmares from his last case as a private consultant. To add insult to injury, he’s bequeathed an unwanted and rundown Opera House in Cape Unity, a down-on-its-luck seaside village where vacation homes were once a playground for the rich.

His hopes for a quick sale are dashed when a new client with dreams of his own redemption is murdered in the Opera House, the letter “G” mockingly carved into his chest. Working with a wary Sheriff, Drayco has to navigate a complicated maze of illicit love affairs and hostility over immigration and coastal development.

But Drayco’s confidence in his decision-making abilities is shaken when the flirtatious and lonely wife of a Town Councilman almost derails Drayco’s efforts with her attempts to seduce him, despite the fact she had an affair with the victim. Then, one mystery turns to two, as Drayco learns of a famous Polish pianist whose last concert was at the Opera House fifty years ago – and was murdered after returning home.

Drayco is pulled into a tangled web of jealousy and betrayal that reaches across the Atlantic into some of the darkest days of human history. But will he be able to untangle the threads before the tensions in Cape Unity explode into more violence and he becomes the next victim?

“An engaging lead and atmospheric setting make for an ideal travel read.” – Library Journal

“Lawson uses the gothic features of the abandoned Opera House to great effect, creating an atmospheric background for the crimes and the solving of them, all of it accompanied with music that’s almost like another character. The pace never sagged and it kept me enthralled.” – Long and Short Reviews

Capitalism, Freedom and Society by Theodorus Frost

Capitalism, Freedom and Society by Theodorus Frost

Using video games as a reflection of society, capitalism and freedom is a good way to illustrate the effects of capitalism. Exploring the effects of capitalism on freedom and society and raising awareness and reasoning about important problems in society are the goals of this book. Just because something has been this way for a long time does not mean that it should continue this way.
