Being a genius Medical school graduate and a sporty and active girl, Aliya dies suddenly in a car accident… only to find herself reborn in a completely different body in the middle of a half-ruined castle during Medieval times. While confused and dismayed, Aliya realizes she has been given a second chance in life — so she rolls up her sleeves and gets to work on restoring the castle and her new life.

Aliya has an unusual and difficult goal: she is reborn as Countess Lilian; she has to adjust to an unfamiliar world while trying to introduce the everyday conveniences from her familiar modern world. She needs to take care of the collapsing estate of Earton and its inhabitants while living in the past as a disenfranchised woman. Regular robbers and slave-trader attacks won’t leave her in peace, killers and spies, sent by the narcissistic aristocracy, are just waiting for her to show a bit of weakness so that they can strike. On the other hand, there exist a prospect of meeting with her perpetually absent husband whom, by the way, after her rebirth as Countess Lilian, Aliya has never seen.

Her plan is to make the best of her unusual circumstances to make the world better. She is not a girl in trouble waiting for a prince in shining armor — she strives to achieve everything herself.

First Lessons is the opening book of the bestselling historical and time travel fantasy A Medieval Tale series by Lina J. Potter. The heroine finds herself only at the beginning of a thorny path to progress and happiness. She makes her first steps, building a defense for herself, her new friends, and her rapidly developing business empire — and this is no piece of cake for sure. Despite everything, she has to still go up against the unprogressive and sexist society of the Medieval Ages, with only her knowledge, experience, and strong will on her side. Still, Lilian has to act carefully in order not to draw too much attention to her innovations — she knows she could be praised for her genius, or conversely, accused of witchcraft.

Of Such Is The Kingdom, PART I: Discontent and Insurrection by James M. Becher

Intriguing historical fiction novel of Biblical and Roman timesIntriguing historical fiction novel of Biblical and Roman times developed from a prize-winning story.

Powerful blending of stories of seekers from different walks of life who might have lived then.

Step back to Ancient Jerusalem at the time of Christ and the Roman Empire, and ask: What could a cynical, non-conformist dry-goods salesman, a disgruntled blacksmith, and a musing mendicant all have in common? The answer: Down deep, they all seek something better. But will they find the true fulfillment they are seeking?

The non-conformist, Manaheem, Herod’s foster brother, is hired by Herod to foment an insurrection against Pontius Pilate, whom he distrusts.  Manaheem recruits the blacksmith, Barabbas, to be the insurrection leader, to the dismay of Barabbas’ Godly but fearful wife (when he finally tells her).

The mendicant, an unfortunate but pensive young man named Timotheus, joins with an older beggar completely unsympathetic to his musings.

Pontius Pilate sees himself as a weak ruler, but his wife pushes him to be stronger and to even take over Herod’s territory.

Manaheem re-unites with his former wife, Claressa. In need of more money, he tries to blackmail Herod over the latter’s illicit affair, but fails. Read the book to see why.

Herod’s palace is attacked, and suspecting Pilate, he tells Manaheem to go ahead with the mission. Will the insurrection succeed? Buy the book to find out.

“Mr. Becher takes you through a wide range of emotions from beginning to end…. This is a great historical fiction novel that I’m sure you will enjoy” —-Rudelle Thomas (Divine Eloquence)

About the author of this science fiction suspense, Ilyas Shy Sultanov:

About Ilyas
At six years old, Ilyas Shy Sultanov discovered the extraordinary and boundless world of literature, starting with the book The Wizard of the Emerald City by Alexander Volkov, a Russian retelling of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. It was then that the desire to create his own worlds was born, but the harsh realities of life sometimes lead us astray from our true purpose.

Over the course of the next 20 years, during which he encountered the works of masters of science fiction suspense, such as Stephen King, J.K. Rowling, Clive Barker, Edgar Allan Poe, Bram Stoker, Andrzej Sapkowski, Yukio Mishima and many others, Ilyas’ talent spoke to him through his dreams. Vivid and realistic, he decided one day to begin writing them down. His literary debut comprised a few short stories that were well-received by a circle of close friends and family. Trusting his own abilities and with the limitless support of his beloved wife, Alfia, and his dear parents, Ilyas wrote his first speculative fiction novel – Ian’s Perception.

You Owe Me One by Kathryn Hollingworth

You Owe Me One by Kathryn HollingworthTwo young men, living separate lives more than a century apart, are hounded by the same dark entity. Against the backdrops of nineteenth century Louisiana and Paris, through to modern day Florida, they each struggle to save their souls and to find love and happiness. This is a story about the battle between good and evil.

“How does it feel to meet your old buddy, head-on near the fires of home?”
I can barely speak. I manage to say something, between bursts of coughing. “So, that’s where I’m going? You’re sending me to Hell?”
“Well, Joe, you do owe me one,” says my old buddy and smiles warmly. Blackness.

“Some people say that the closer you are to God the more the Devil comes after you. Well, that sure is true in my case. Maybe that’s why I’m crouched down at the back of a Baptist church, where there’s a service in full swing, clutching a powerful crossbow I bought at a store with fake ID, because I’m only sixteen. I fully intend to use it; the crossbow I mean.
The Devil must be chuckling with glee if he’s watching me now, for as a child I was as close to God as anyone could be. Two church services on Sunday and Bible Study twice a week was part of my regular routine. Now I can taste bile rising in my mouth, as I hear the cries of hallelujah. In a nearby window I can see a lone vulture swooping down from the sky. As I slowly rise up onto my feet, the outline of the wedding guests comes into view. The floral dresses, fancy hats and corsages, all blend into a garish kaleidoscope of horror. My vision is blurred and I pause for a moment as my lungs seem to constrict, so that it’s getting hard to breathe. My hands shake as I load a bolt into the crossbow and walk up the aisle, and all the while I’m wondering if I am truly Satan’s collaborator.”
