Red-Eye: A Novelette by B. Stine

“Red-Eye” a humorous travel story by B. Stine:
The man walked to the back of the cabin and entered the restroom. A couple of minutes passed when suddenly—KABOOM!—followed by the oxygen masks dropping from the ceiling. “Fasten Seat Belt” appeared on the monitors, and an alarm sounded. Loud engine noise. “Oxygen Mask” began flashing on the monitors.
“Uhh … folks …”
The pilot addressed the passengers as cockpit alarms sounded in the background through the intercom system.
“You probably noticed that the oxygen masks self-deployed. Uhh … and it appears … well … we could have a slight pressure problem … so we’d like you to go ahead and use the oxygen masks while we try to determine exactly what the problem is.”
The woman placed an oxygen mask over her face and pulled down a second mask, holding it close to her pet carrier. The pilot forgot to turn off his microphone, and the passengers could hear the sounds from the cockpit.
“… what—this looks—whoa—where are the—I can’t see the—try it again—I hope your wife—maybe the other—oops, the mic—got it—”
Then the CLICK sound of the mic turning off.
