Detroit Detective Stories Book 1

Detroit Detective StoriesNestled below the skyline of Detroit you’ll find Greektown, a few short blocks of colorful bliss, warm people and Greek food.

In spite of growing up immersed in the safety of her family and their rich culture, Jill Zannos doesn’t fit in. A Detroit homicide detective, she manages to keep one foot planted firmly in the traditions started by her grandparents, while the other navigates the most devastated neighborhoods in the city she can’t help but love. She is a no nonsense workaholic with no girlfriends, an odd boyfriend who refuses to grow up, and an uncanny intuition, inherited from her mystic grandmother that acts as her secret weapon to crime solving success. Her story winds around tales of her family and their secret laden history, while she investigates the most despicable murder of her career.

The Greeks of Beaubien Street is a modern tale of a family grounded in old world, sometimes archaic, tradition as they seek acceptance in American society. They could be any nationality, but they are Greek.

Warning! Graphic depiction of rape and murder.

“This gripping novel from Jenkins delivers complex twists and turns from start to finish. Alexandra Donicka is a talented but unstable brain surgeon living in New York City. Medical thriller with 52 reviews on Amazon.

medical thrillerFrom a top reviewer: A Simple Cure is an “Intense, Riveting, Medical Thriller.” The novel engages the reader in the search for the cure of malignant melanoma, a cancer that kills one American every hour.

If you think for one moment that A Simple Cure by Lawrence W. Gold is going to be another run of the mill medical thriller straight from the same test tube as all the rest, you would be so wrong! First, I highly suggest you read what the author has to say in the beginning of the book, it’s fascinating and educational, because once you get to the first page of this fast-paced novel, you will be in for the ride of your life!

When nature, in her ultimate act of irony, strikes Richard Powell, a cancer specialist, with malignant melanoma, his wife, Terri devotes her life to curing the dreaded disease.
While publically supported research laboratories are characterized as noble in search of cures, and proprietary drug companies are caricatured as ruthless and materialistic, too often, the distinctions aren’t so clear.

When a drug courier is murdered to obtain an experimental and promising treatment for malignant melanoma, the act unleashes a chain of devastating consequences.  People for Alternative Treatment (PAT), a company created to find cures for rare diseases, had fallen on hard times and became a subsidiary of Kendall Pharmaceuticals, a company with very different set of values.

Experimentation with a vaccine against tuberculosis is showing surprising effects in controlling malignant melanoma at PAT and UC Medical Center. Kendall is enthralled with the economic potential of such a treatment in melanoma and in many other cancers while researchers are leery and have many unanswered questions.  Kendall’s determination to push the vaccine into clinical trial at all costs is in conflict with Terri and her ethical associates.

When clinical trials begin, the vaccine’s effects are miraculous. Soon, however, once again, we see the rule of unintended consequences.

Pianist in a Bordello is a hilarious political romp through the last four decades of American history, from a narrator who is full of surprises.

About the author: Mike C. Erickson

Pianist in a Bordello author Mike C EricksonMike C. Erickson grew up in the idyllic college town of Logan, Utah, but because of a twist of fate he graduated from high school in Honolulu. He left Hawaii brimming with aloha and enrolled at Utah State, where he was awarded two degrees and self-proclaimed minor intellectual status, which was of dubious value when the US Army invited him to vacation in South-East Asia. Ten days after leaving Vietnam, Erickson began decades of dispensing pearls of wisdom as a high school history teacher, academic decathlon coach, and on occasion, as a community college instructor in the Sacramento area. Mike and his wife Trudy, have two grown sons and a grandson born soon after this novel is published. When not in Hawaii or another exotic locale, they live in Gold River, California. It was also awarded two first places in fiction and humor by the Colorado Independent Publishers Association. In addition, Pianist was recently named as a recipient of the coveted BRAG awards. Publishers Weekly, Red City Reviews and Kirkus Reviews all included it in the top ten percent of Indie books that were submitted. The gold standard of book promotion, BookBub recently accepted Pianist in a Bordello for a featured position in their newsletter. BookBub only accepts between ten to fifteen percent of the hundreds of books submitted daily.

About the author, Maya Keller:

Maya KellerMaya Keller is a young woman with a powerful voice. Several powerful voices to be exact.

Growing up in a multicultural neighborhood, Maya realized the importance of being able to communicate with others in their own language. When a single trip to the local market might require negotiating in French, Spanish and English, it logically followed that Maya would want to be able to understand and speak the languages of the people in her community. As a teenager, she made it her personal goal to, not only learn but, master as many languages as possible. This goal has stuck with her and she is now one of the few truly universal polyglots with a nearly complete command of all languages written and spoken around the world. When Maya Keller speaks, people listen because she speaks to them in a language they can understand.

In her quest for learning, Maya Keller has traveled extensively. By immersing herself in the local cultures of various regions, she has gained the ability to understand the nuances of the written and spoken word of these areas and even the differences in regional dialects. Her travels have taken her around the world, from the coasts of Africa to the mountains of Peru and the icy tundra of the former USSR, all on a quest to learn and perfect her abilities to speak the native languages.

While her favorite languages remain as Spanish and French, her area of expertise is certainly not limited to those languages. She has become a well respected expert in the field of language and has developed a series of eBooks to help others learn these same skills. These ebooks incorporate her own system of language learning hacks that have assisted her in becoming the expert linguist that she is today.

The author’s One Size Fits All diet has a lot in common with the FODMAP diet plan which was developed by Sue Shepherd PhD and Peter Gibson MD, and is considered a revolutionary plan for managing IBS and other digestive disorders. But even this so called ‘must-have-survival-guide’ would not have worked for Mimi after she ruptured her appendix and developed septicaemia whilst suffering from antibiotic intolerance.

The surprising ten ingredients in this diet can quickly set people back on a path to achieve optimum health. Her healthy diet is an easy short read and a great beginners guide to healthy living.

By repairing her gut, Mimi’s health improved exponentially and many of the symptoms either disappeared or were greatly reduced.

iron eagleIs The Iron Eagle a psychotic serial killer?

Or a new breed of Justice?

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Homicide Detective Jim O’Brian and FBI Profiler Special Agent Steve Hoffman are hunting for a brutal serial killer; however, this case defies the profiling rules both men have been trained to detect. “The Iron Eagle” appears to only hunt and capture serial killers. Time is of the essence as with each passing day “The Eagle” gets more brazen. The deeper O’Brian and Hoffman dig into profiling the killer, the more they realize that this is more than a race against time – it’s a race laden with the realization that the killer may be one of their own.

From the inside flap:

Sheriff’s Homicide Detective Jim O’Brian and FBI Profiler Special Agent Steve Hoffman are also no strangers to the violence of the sprawling metropolis, but in the past decade something has changed. There’s a serial killer preying on other serial killers – some known by law enforcement, others well off radar. “The Iron Eagle,” a vigilante, extracts vengeance for the victims of Los Angeles’ serial killers. His methods are meticulous and his killings brutal. With each passing day, “The Iron Eagle” moves with impunity through the streets of Los Angeles in search of his prey. O’Brian and Hoffman create an elite task force with the sole purpose of catching “The Eagle” and bringing him to justice. But the deeper they delve, the more apparent it is that he may very well be one of their own. As the two men stare into the abyss of their search, the eyes of “The Iron Eagle” stare back.

About the author, Roy A. Teel Jr.

Iron Eagle author: Roy A. Teel Jr.On May 11, 1995, at 30, Roy’s life was irrevocably changed. After walking into the hospital, he was admitted and later received the worst possible diagnosis – Primary Progressive Multiple Sclerosis. His doctors gave him two years to live, and he left the hospital in a wheelchair. Roy, not one for giving up, and having a, then, three-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son, went immediately into human subjects research at UCLA and spent 12 years (1995-2007) as a human research subject. His experience gave him a unique look behind the scenes of medicine and the processes that are required to get drugs through the research chain, from the animal research phase to using those drugs in humans in clinical trials, and, if successful, on to the FDA for approval. Roy participated in four major experimental drug trials, and one of those ended up giving him thyroid cancer, which was diagnosed in January 2001.
