Detroit Detective Stories Book 1

Detroit Detective StoriesNestled below the skyline of Detroit you’ll find Greektown, a few short blocks of colorful bliss, warm people and Greek food.

In spite of growing up immersed in the safety of her family and their rich culture, Jill Zannos doesn’t fit in. A Detroit homicide detective, she manages to keep one foot planted firmly in the traditions started by her grandparents, while the other navigates the most devastated neighborhoods in the city she can’t help but love. She is a no nonsense workaholic with no girlfriends, an odd boyfriend who refuses to grow up, and an uncanny intuition, inherited from her mystic grandmother that acts as her secret weapon to crime solving success. Her story winds around tales of her family and their secret laden history, while she investigates the most despicable murder of her career.

The Greeks of Beaubien Street is a modern tale of a family grounded in old world, sometimes archaic, tradition as they seek acceptance in American society. They could be any nationality, but they are Greek.

Warning! Graphic depiction of rape and murder.

Review by Publisher’s Weekly
“This gripping novel from Jenkins delivers complex twists and turns from start to finish. Alexandra Donicka is a talented but unstable brain surgeon living in New York City. When her mother dies, Alexandra travels to New Orleans to face the tragedies and secrets of her youth. These include childhood abuse and the birth of a child, who was taken from Alexandra by her mother more than two decades ago. As Alexandra searches for her daughter, she must grapple with long-hidden emotions and discover her own humanity. Jenkins creates fully realized, believable characters and ably portrays mental illness in this dark tale that provides nonstop thrills and culminates in an explosive and unexpected finale.”

Medical thriller with 52 reviews on Amazon.

medical thrillerFrom a top reviewer: A Simple Cure is an “Intense, Riveting, Medical Thriller.” The novel engages the reader in the search for the cure of malignant melanoma, a cancer that kills one American every hour.

If you think for one moment that A Simple Cure by Lawrence W. Gold is going to be another run of the mill medical thriller straight from the same test tube as all the rest, you would be so wrong! First, I highly suggest you read what the author has to say in the beginning of the book, it’s fascinating and educational, because once you get to the first page of this fast-paced novel, you will be in for the ride of your life!

When nature, in her ultimate act of irony, strikes Richard Powell, a cancer specialist, with malignant melanoma, his wife, Terri devotes her life to curing the dreaded disease.
While publically supported research laboratories are characterized as noble in search of cures, and proprietary drug companies are caricatured as ruthless and materialistic, too often, the distinctions aren’t so clear.

When a drug courier is murdered to obtain an experimental and promising treatment for malignant melanoma, the act unleashes a chain of devastating consequences.  People for Alternative Treatment (PAT), a company created to find cures for rare diseases, had fallen on hard times and became a subsidiary of Kendall Pharmaceuticals, a company with very different set of values.

Experimentation with a vaccine against tuberculosis is showing surprising effects in controlling malignant melanoma at PAT and UC Medical Center. Kendall is enthralled with the economic potential of such a treatment in melanoma and in many other cancers while researchers are leery and have many unanswered questions.  Kendall’s determination to push the vaccine into clinical trial at all costs is in conflict with Terri and her ethical associates.

When clinical trials begin, the vaccine’s effects are miraculous. Soon, however, once again, we see the rule of unintended consequences.

About the author of the medical thriller, A Simple Cure: Lawrence W. Gold, M.D.

Medical thriller author, Lawrence GoldI was born in the Bensonhurst section of Brooklyn, moved to Queens, and then, as New Yorkers say, we ascended to the Island.

First, Do No Harm was published in April 2007. No Cure for Murder was released in August 2011. For the Love of God was published in January 2012 and The Sixth Sense in July 2012.

In the last two years, I’ve written three screenplays based on my novels and hope to see one or more produced for the screen. I submitted my screenplay, Rage to the 80th Annual Writer’s Digest contest and won honorable mention (57 out of 11,000).

We live in beautiful Grass Valley with 13 year old Mike, a terrier mix and Bennie, a 7 year old purebred though enormous Yorkie.

About the author: Mike C. Erickson

Pianist in a Bordello author Mike C EricksonMike C. Erickson grew up in the idyllic college town of Logan, Utah, but because of a twist of fate he graduated from high school in Honolulu. About the author, Maya Keller:

Maya KellerMaya Keller is a young woman with a powerful voice. Several powerful voices to be exact.

Growing up in a multicultural neighborhood, Maya realized the importance of being able to communicate with others in their own language. When a single trip to the local market might require negotiating in French, Spanish and English, it logically followed that Maya would want to be able to understand and speak the languages of the people in her community. As a teenager, she made it her personal goal to, not only learn but, master as many languages as possible. This goal has stuck with her and she is now one of the few truly universal polyglots with a nearly complete command of all languages written and spoken around the world. When Maya Keller speaks, people listen because she speaks to them in a language they can understand.

In her quest for learning, Maya Keller has traveled extensively. By immersing herself in the local cultures of various regions, she has gained the ability to understand the nuances of the written and spoken word of these areas and even the differences in regional dialects. Her travels have taken her around the world, from the coasts of Africa to the mountains of Peru and the icy tundra of the former USSR, all on a quest to learn and perfect her abilities to speak the native languages.

While her favorite languages remain as Spanish and French, her area of expertise is certainly not limited to those languages. She has become a well respected expert in the field of language and has developed a series of eBooks to help others learn these same skills. These ebooks incorporate her own system of language learning hacks that have assisted her in becoming the expert linguist that she is today.
