The Last Lie She Told (Lies and Misdirection Book 1) by K. J. McGillick

Lies and MisdirectionLies and misdirection rule the game.

To some, Fiona O’Dell is clever and manipulative. To others, she is a dangerous sociopath. One thing is certain – she’s trouble wherever she goes. Now she has vanished from her job, but not before being seen leaving a motel room where one man is found dead, another on the edge of death. Is this grizzly crime scene a BDSM encounter gone wrong? Or is it related to a company data breach where all three are employed?

Private security expert Lee Stone and NYPD Detective Belle Hughes are assigned to the case. In a race to find Fiona, they track her across four states and shocked to find men from her past are being murdered. With little information and even less evidence, each new crime scene brings more questions than answers.

While secrets are revealed, there is only one conclusion: Fiona controls the game, the players, even the course of the investigation. The danger escalates, and the game must be mastered, or all fall victim to it. As Lee and Belle struggle to put all the pieces together, the two investigators find their relationship heats up as they are drawn to each other. Looking for a murder mystery with a feisty female detective that’s filled with twists and turns? Explore The Last Lie She Told for a thrill ride that leaves you guessing until the end.

About the author of the Lies and Misdirection series, K. J. McGillick:

Lies and MisdirectionKathleen McGillick is a fiction writer in the Mystery Thriller Suspense genre. She was born in Manhattan and lived in Florida while she attended the University of Miami School of Nursing. After twenty years of teaching nursing in New York, she headed south leaving the snow behind. She has lived in Georgia over thirty-five years and is a practicing attorney in Cherokee County.

Her passions are international travel and art. And much like a CIA agent she has a “GO” bag packed to leave for a trip whenever possible. It’s not a reach to realize her stories are culled from her travel adventures and there are tons of adventures to share. Her favorite place outside the US is the UK but her love of art was born at the Louvre requiring return pilgrimages to rejuvenate her soul. You can follow her travels at travelingesquire.smugmug.com/

A grandmother of two and lover of her cats she enjoys writing her books much like Lee Child, by the seat of her pants. Her characters are flawed, her plots twist and turn and the endings you never see coming.

Science Fiction Novel Free Today

Are you looking for a science fiction novel to read on your Kindle? Cyberside is free today on Amazon.

Cyberside by Aleksey Savchenko, Bert Jennings

Science Fiction NovelClassic Cyberpunk with some refreshing twists

Set in a dystopian future, humanity has escaped the decaying physical landscape of Earth by transferring its collective conciseness into the digital world known as the Cyberside. Though designed to be a utopia, the Cyberside has quickly devolved into a chaotic, dangerous digital landscape. The story follows two main characters: a monster hunter, James Reynolds, and an “information vampire”, Matilda. James has lived his entire life in the Cyberside as his stoic, no-nonsense persona, “Taciturn.” Matilda, on the other hand, is a frenzied bundle of emotions and desires.

Originally hired to eliminate the Matilda, James finds himself at the center of a diabolical conspiracy. Together they will journey to reload the supervising AI System and unveil the mystery behind its original architecture.

A world to explore, a message to consider…

Cyberside is a science fiction novel that explores human emotions. Written with a focus on characters as much as technology, Cyberside is an allegorical take on the role of progress and technology in the modern world; while focusing on recapturing humanity in an otherwise cold, often inhuman landscape. It’s a journey through the tech ridden world of the Cyberside through the eyes of two disparate characters thrust into an adventure together.

Aleksey Savchenko was born in 1982 in Ukraine, Donetsk. He recently finished his first book Cyberside, a science fiction novel, with his friend and co-author Bert Jennings. He is working on the second part of the trilogy and looks forward to his life rather optimistic and ready for more exciting ventures to come!

Curtis – Free Coming of Age Fiction

“Holly Curtis moulds likeable characters with realistic ‘teen’ dialogue for the time, and the attention to detail is excellent…”

Lucky Star by Holly Curtis

Lucky Star by Holly CurtisTeenager Ben Somerset has three great loves in his life: Sherlock Holmes, designer clothes and a certain song by Madonna.

And then Susie appears.

Set in England in the summer of 1984 Lucky Star tells of Ben’s introduction to the world of shoplifting, music, politics, love and heartbreak.

About the author of Lucky Star, Holly Curtis:

Holly’s first book is a comedy called Celluloid and has been hailed as ‘the best book ever about a film lover who tries to prevent his local, independent cinema from being closed and turned into flats by a psychotic gangster property developer.’

Holly’s favourite story is A Christmas Carol and loves movies from the30s-50s.

Holly was born and raised in the UK and will probably perish there.

Shelley Wilson Book Review for Lucky Star by Holly Curtis:

Lucky Star was like a trip down memory lane for me. Born in the 70s, I experienced my teenage years around the same time as the main character, Ben Somerset. I’d like to think we could have been friends.

Curtis moulds likeable characters with realistic ‘teen’ dialogue for the time, and the attention to detail is excellent; I’d almost forgotten about one pound notes!

The story was a bit slow for me, but I did like the 80s references. Being a parent of three teenagers, I’m not sure they’d ‘get’ this novel as there are so many retro references that would go over their head. I’m fairly sure they think I’m making it up when I say we didn’t have mobile phones! The author’s target audience is a young adult market, but I think this would appeal to their parents and grandparents rather than the intended readers.

Enjoyable read.

Magoch: Young and Lost in a New Era by N.R. Lovitt

Magoch: Young and Lost in a New Era by N.R. LovittA massive magical event flips the normal world on its head, and the masses are suddenly gifted a wide array of abilities. Ezreth never intended to create magical chaos, but now he has to deal with the unfamiliar world he’s become a part of.

Ms. Vulpine, a mysterious historian child of a wealthy family becomes fixated on finding the magical culprit, while her new assistant, Sam, becomes increasingly interested in unraveling her well-kept secrets.

Among those affected by the magical event, Chip, a quiet high school senior that wanders through life ignoring what everyone says. When he’s finally given the spotlight he never asked for, he’s forced to choose: use his newfound power for good or evil?

An age of magic dawns and many dangers come along with it. Ezreth may have the experience, but he is out of touch with how much society has changed. And when those who have little power are suddenly given it, the results are catastrophic for everyone.

Amazon Review for Magoch: Young and Lost in a New Era by N.R. Lovitt:

It’s a funny story until the end

The overall story is a comedy but has moments when it’s depressing. Ezreth is pretty much from a different world and his view on life when he talks to Jess reminds me of when a kid asks you why you go to work every day. You tell him it’s because you need money then the kid constantly asks why. That sad feeling you get in the back of your mind thinking why also, this book makes you feel that. This book by Lovitt has a lot of setup for something big because it mentions news from around the world a lot. It was interesting, funny, and relatable. Long action scenes.
